Daniel Butvinik

Daniel Butvinik has over 12 years of professional experience in software engineering and management. Daniel began their career in 2008 as a Researcher at Utah State University, where they used Matlab to develop a genuine convolutional decoder and published a paper and presented a poster based on their work. In 2009, they joined IBM as a Software Engineer. In 2010, they returned to Microsoft as a Software Engineer on the Product Activation Test Team, where they were a Test Lead on POEDS 1.2 Post Production SAP Bug and contributed to the POEDS 1.2 Test Automation Regression Suite. Daniel also conducted Performance Testing on the CWS Key Management Service and reported on the SQL Capacity of MSDN’s Product Key Delivery System. In 2011, they held a Software Quality Agent position at Videon Central and a Software Engineer position at Microsoft. From 2012 to 2017, they worked at Microsoft in various roles, including Senior Software Engineer on the Open Source Programs Office, Senior Software Engineer on azure.microsoft.com, and Software Engineer on the Centralized Build Team. In 2017, they founded Imgbot, an open source GitHub app, and grew it into a whole community of contributors and a profitable business. After reaching installations in over 300,000 projects, they sold the business in August 2021. In 2019, they joined Twistle as a Software Engineering Manager and was a core contributor to the platform, planning and managing the sprints for the product team of 5 engineers across the patient-facing and provider-facing applications. In 2022, they joined Walnut as a Software Engineering Manager and launched a buy-now-pay-later offering in the healthcare space. Daniel is currently a Senior Engineering Manager at Grow Therapy.

Daniel Butvinik earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University between 2007 and 2012.
