Sanjay Uttam is the Vice President of Software Engineering at Grubhub. Sanjay has been with the company since April 2014 and in their current role, they lead engineering across several key verticals including 1) 30+ tier-1 services that enabled order placement, including credit card processing and order processing, 2) our B2B product workplace food-delivery (a $300MM+ year/revenue business), and 3) college campus ordering.

Sanjay played a key role in transitioning Grubhub's single data-center monolith to a scalable, fault-tolerant multi data center architecture running on AWS. Sanjay also helped rebuild the entire NYC-based engineering team through our hockey-stick period in ~2017-2018.

Prior to Grubhub, Sanjay was a Senior Development Consultant at Wolters Kluwer from August 2013 to April 2014. Sanjay was focused on the next generation release of a $200MM/year SaaS product aimed primarily at medical research. Sanjay's technical focus was on C#, WCF, MVC 4, Azure, TDD, and CouchBase. Sanjay was responsible for the architecture and development of highly testable software, primarily focused on services as well as the design, architecture, and configuration of infrastructure. Sanjay also led research on a number of mission critical initiatives including high speed data storage mechanisms, session management, and coding standards.

Sanjay Uttam has a Master of Science in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Johnson & Wales University.

They are on a team with Anand Iyer - VP, Technology, Bob Waite - VP, Engineering eCommerce, and Sultan Mahmood - Director, Engineering, Contributor, Content & Search Platform. Their manager is Greg Russell, CTO.
