Courtenay O'Connor

Courtenay O'Connor has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and organizations. Courtenay has recently been working as a Program Specialist at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), where they provide guidance on public policy and program implementation in early childhood systems. Prior to this, Courtenay founded and served as the Head of School at a private Montessori school, where they developed a strategic plan for the school's success. Courtenay has also worked as an Education Consultant, providing strategic advising and professional development to school leaders and teachers. In addition, Courtenay has experience as an Interim Director of an early childhood center, where they managed all school operations. Courtenay has also held various roles at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School, including External Relations Manager and Family and Community Engagement Coordinator. Courtenay started their career as a Preschool Teacher at Harvard University and an Elementary School Teacher through Teach For America. Courtenay has also been selected as a Lastinger Teacher Fellowship Research Fellow at the University of Florida, focusing on school culture. Throughout their career, Courtenay has demonstrated a commitment to education and a deep understanding of early childhood systems and strategic planning.

Courtenay O'Connor earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences, with a minor in Early Childhood Special Education, from the University of Maryland in the years 2008 to 2012.

In 2014, Courtenay O'Connor obtained a Lead Teacher certification from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

From 2014 to 2016, Courtenay O'Connor attended The Johns Hopkins University, where they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education.

In July 2012, Courtenay O'Connor obtained an Elementary Education K-6 Teacher certification from the Florida Department of Education.

In 2020, Courtenay O'Connor enrolled in The Prepared Montessorian and completed the MACTE Early Childhood Leadership and Administration program, specializing in Leadership and Administration.
