Emma Guest-Consales, Ph.D., has extensive experience in the tourism industry, particularly in New York City. Emma is currently serving as the President of the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC), where they have been a member since 2011 and has held various roles. Emma also worked as a Tour Ambassador Captain at One World Observatory, providing guests with historical information and conducting specialized tours. Emma has also worked as a Tour Guide and Tour Developer at Bowery Boys Walks, focusing on the architecture and urban design of the city. In 2009, Emma founded My New York City Tours, offering personalized walking tours and virtual tours in English and Italian. Additionally, they have held multiple positions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, including Volunteer in the Acquisitions Department and various research and educational roles. Emma's experience also includes being a Master Guide at City Wonders LTD, where they developed tours of renowned art institutions and landmarks in New York City.
Emma Guest-Consales, Ph.D., earned their Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a minor in Italian from Smith College in 1990. Emma obtained a Diploma in Paper and Book Conservation from Instituto per l'Arte e Restauro in 1992. Later, in 1994, they completed their Master of Arts in Art History from New York University. Continuing their scholarly pursuits, Emma earned a Ph.D. in Art History from Rutgers University in 2005. In 2019, they obtained certification as a Guides Association of New York City Certified Guide.
