Alexander Polak

Alexander Polak currently serves as the Joint Assistant Director of Democracy & Governance at both Guildford Borough Council and Waverley Borough Council, starting in January 2025, where responsibilities include acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer. Prior to this, Alexander held the position of Head of Governance and Scrutiny (interim) at Slough Borough Council from July 2022 to January 2025, contributing to governance restructuring during a period of significant challenges. Earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Director (Governance) (interim) at Sheffield City Council, leading the redesign of governance systems, and various roles at Cornwall Council and Essex County Council, focusing on democratic processes and corporate governance. Alexander's educational background includes a Master's Degree in Public Leadership and Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Local Government Management, both from the University of Warwick, complemented by a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the University of Southampton.
