Monica Baum has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2012, they worked at The Discovery Museums as Admissions staff, Explorer, and Birthday Party Manager. From 2014 to 2018, they were involved with MUSES Art & Literary Magazine, serving as Staff Member, Prose Editor, and eventually becoming the Editor-in-Chief. In 2016, Monica worked as a Writing Tutor at Muhlenberg College, assisting students with analytical writing and providing tutorial sessions. Monica also gained editorial experience as an Editorial Assistant at Peter Lang International Academic Publishers from 2018 to 2019. In 2017, Monica interned at Ascend Learning as an Editorial Intern, where they assisted with manuscript development processes and the development of ancillary materials. In 2020, they started working at Guilford Press as a Marketing Assistant, and later transitioned to the role of Digital Marketing Associate. In this role, Monica is responsible for managing social media channels, running campaigns, conducting market research, and creating promotional videos. Additionally, Monica served as a Marketing Advisor at the Columbia Publishing Course in 2021.

Monica Baum completed their high school education at Acton Boxborough Regional High School from 2010 to 2014. Monica then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature and Women & Gender Studies at Muhlenberg College from 2014 to 2018. During their time at Muhlenberg College, they also had a study abroad experience at The University of Edinburgh in 2016, studying English Literature, Celtic Civilization, and International Development, Aid, and Humanitarianism. In 2018, Monica attended the Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism for The Columbia Publishing Course.
