Gerry Allen has had a progressive career in the food industry, starting as the Director of Buying & Merchandising at Mayfair Markets in 1970. Gerry then moved on to become the Vice President of Purchasing at Mothers Cake & Cookie Company in 1978. In 1985, Allen joined Guittard Chocolate Company as the Executive Vice President of Commodities.

Gerry Allen attended the University of Southern California from 1970 to 1972, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Food Marketing Management. Prior to that, they studied Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies at Weber State University from 1968 to 1970, although they did not obtain a specific degree during this period. Lastly, Gerry Allen also enrolled at Golden Gate University to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree, although the dates of enrollment and completion were not provided.
