A regional news team that works in collaboration with NPR and public radio stations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana to go beyond the daily news and provide community-informed context to the stories of daily life in the Deep South.

The Gulf States Newsroom was created to ensure that stories related to health care, criminal justice, the economy and other important issues in the region continue to be told. Since 2020, WBHM in Alabama, WWNO and WRKF in Louisiana and Mississippi Public Broadcasting have worked together to plan coverage, share resources, and add reporting power in a story-rich region that has for too long gone under-covered.
