Jim McLain has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jim has recently served as the Director of Learning and Development at Gustave A. Larson since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Marketing Director at Milwaukee Direct Marketing, where they were responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies. Jim also served as a Sales Manager and Corporate Manager of Learning & Development at Construction Specialties, where they developed sales strategies and implemented training programs. Jim has also held positions at Duni AB as a Marketing Manager and at Rock Transfer & Storage, Inc. as an Account Executive. Jim began their career at UPS, where they held various roles including Corporate Trainer, Customer Service Telephone Center supervisor, Account Executive, and Airport Operations Supervisor.

Jim McLain's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Jim obtained this degree at an unknown time. Later, from 2004 to 2010, Jim attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where they earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Christian Studies.

In addition to their formal education, Jim has obtained several certifications. In October 1995, they became a SPIN Selling Certified Sales Trainer through Huthwaite International. In May 1996, Jim achieved certification as a Certified Instructional Designer from The Continuous Learning Group. Jim obtained the DISC Temperament Inventory Facilitator certification from Bartell & Bartell, Ltd. in October 2015.

More recently, in March 2020, Jim became an Ordained Chaplain through Elmbrook Church. In October 2020, they obtained the SYMBIS Marriage Counselling certification as a SYMBIS Pre-Marital Coach. Their most recent certification is the Junior Ranger certification, which they obtained from the National Park Service in July 2023.
