Matthew A. Gilbertson

Matthew A. Gilbertson is an experienced technical theatre artist and educator with a strong background in scene shop management, carpentry, and design. Currently serving as the Scene Shop Shopper/Buyer and Scenic Carpenter at Guthrie Theater since June 2018, Matthew has also contributed as a Carpenter and Fabricator at Brown Knows Design. Over an extensive career, Matthew has held various roles including Technical Director at Yellow Tree Theatre and served as a Freelance Technical Theatre Artist, working with regional and community theatres in the Twin Cities. Matthew holds a Master of Fine Arts in Technical Direction and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Technical Theatre from Minnesota State University, Mankato, along with an Associate's degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
