Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson is a seasoned professional in the produce sector with extensive experience spanning over three decades. Currently serving as the Senior Academy & Youth Development Coach for GWS Giants since February 2013, Michael has also held various managerial roles at Metcash from June 2017 to November 2023, including National Trading Manager and Senior Category Manager for Produce. Previously, Michael worked at Woolworths Group from January 1997 to March 2017 in positions such as Business Manager for Fresh Produce and Projects in Produce, contributing to major initiatives like the rollout of Returnable Plastic Crates. Michael began their career at Woolworths Group in December 1982, eventually managing several stores in Victoria and honing expertise across various produce categories. Michael holds a degree from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, completed in 2009.
