Paul Hegarty is a seasoned professional in event management and protocol, currently serving as Associate Vice President for Events at The George Washington University since January 2020. Prior to this role, Hegarty held positions such as Protocol and Events Manager at Lockheed Martin and Director of Scheduling and Advance at USAID. Hegarty's extensive experience also includes serving as Sr. Advisor and Assistant Chief of Protocol for Visits at the U.S. Department of State, Director of Inaugural Balls for the Presidential Inaugural Committee, and various leadership roles within the Democratic National Committee and Arizona Democratic Party. Hegarty's early career features a role as Deputy Director of Advance in the Office of the Vice President of the United States.
