Sarah Betts is currently a PhD student in Neuroscience at The George Washington University, where research is conducted in the Hui Lu Lab. Prior to this role, Sarah served as a research intern at the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, focusing on object representation and spatial navigation using advanced calcium imaging techniques. While at the University of Notre Dame, Sarah held several positions including research assistant for the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare & Neglected Diseases, first violinist, and associate concertmaster in the Symphony Orchestra. Sarah also contributed to the University of Notre Dame's student-run science publication, Scientia, as an associate editor and was involved as a Scholars Ambassador. Additionally, Sarah founded and led Betts Hand Technologies, LLC, and interned at Charité, studying the neurobiological effects of early life stress on the brain. Sarah completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience at the University of Notre Dame and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience from The George Washington University, expected to graduate in 2028.
