Silvina Ramos is a Senior Researcher at the Center for the Study of the State and Society (CEDES) where she specializes in health, including sexual and reproductive health, and implementation research. She is a prominent and influential advocate for safe and legal abortion in Argentina. She served on the committee that drafted the new national abortion law, was a founding member of REDAAS (Access to Safe Abortion Network) and is a member of its leadership team. She was technical coordinator for the committee responsible for designing the national Plan for the Prevention of Unplanned Adolescent Pregnancy (Plan Enia). Alongside her role at CEDES, she functioned as coordinator for the Sexual and Reproductive Health Program of the Province of Buenos Aires and the National Commission on Health Research of the National Ministry of Health. Ramos has held international positions, including Vice-Chair of the governing body of WHO’s Special Programme on Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction; Network Liaison Officer for the International Consortium for Medical Abortion (ICMA); and Executive Committee member of the Latin American Consortium Against Unsafe Abortion (CLACAI). Ramos is a sociologist and has a postgraduate degree in social sciences.
