Research Scientist In Retinal Biology at Gyroscope Therapeutics

Katharina Lo is a Principal Scientist II at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, where responsibilities include driving the development of novel platforms for target identification and validation and engaging with stakeholders for project communication. Previously, as Team Lead in Cell Biology at Gyroscope Therapeutics, Katharina led a team to establish multicellular functional assays and managed dynamic academic collaborations. Katharina also worked as a Research Scientist in Retinal Cell Biology, focusing on AAV gene therapy and developing functional assays. Earlier roles included a Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow at UCL, contributing to studies on retinal degeneration, and collaborations with Apellis Pharmaceuticals and GSK on the complement system. Katharina holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc in Cellular Biology and Molecular Biology from the University of Münster and completed nursing education at Raphaelsklinik School of Nursing in Germany.
