Richard Wells has over 20 years of experience in the field of engineering and maintenance. Richard currently holds the position of Chief Engineer at H5 Data Centers since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Building Engineer at CBRE from June 2022 to June 2023. From April 2019 to November 2021, they served as an Operating Engineer at Cushman & Wakefield.

Richard has also worked at CBRE as a Building Engineer and HVAC Technician from October 2017 to March 2019. In addition, they held the position of Critical Facilities Building Engineer at CBRE from January 2017 to October 2017.

Before joining CBRE, Richard worked as an HVAC Technician at JLL from June 2016 to December 2016. Richard also has experience as a Lead Mechanical Critical Facilities Engineer at McKinstry from March 2012 to April 2016, where they were responsible for facility maintenance at an Oil and Gas company Critical Facility Data Center. Prior to that, they provided mobile engineering services as a Mobile Engineer at Jones Lang LaSalle from May 2010 to March 2012.

Richard began their career as an HVAC Tech V at Methodist Hospitals from 2001 to 2002. Prior to that, they worked at Dillard's Inc. as a Store Maintenance / Vertical Transportation employee from July 2002 to December 2006.

Richard Wells attended Texas State Technical College Waco from 1987 to 1989 where they obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Plant Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Richard has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. These certifications include Data Center Certified Associate from Energy University by Schneider Electric in August 2019, OSHA - 30 from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in February 2014, Class A+B Operator Training from API in August 2012, Electrical Maintenance Technician from the City of San Antonio in April 2009, and Registered Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in August 2010. Richard also holds the EPA Universal Technician certification for Refrigerant reclaim, recovery, and recycling, which was obtained in December 1993 through the Texas A&M University - Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
