Shreejal Luitel (he/ his/ him) is a first-generation UC Berkeley student from Nepal, who is pursuing a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operation Research. In high school, after taking a Microeconomics class at UChicago through the Ivy League Connection, he co-led (2018-2020) a community organization, richmondCodes, which supported over 300 underserved students with coding workshops. Through his leadership, richmondCodes organized a Web Development Conference at Microsoft for 20 local youth in Richmond. He has also worked as the Student Trustee for the Contra Costa Community College District where he served on the Chancellor-hiring committee in 2020 and worked to promote Open Education Resources, which provides data-driven feedback to students and gives students access to textbooks free of cost. Coming from a low-income background, Shreejal is passionate about supporting underrepresented youth and leveling the playing field by bridging technology with social justice.
