Lee Mayfield

Lee Mayfield is a proven emergency management leader with over 13 years of experience in disaster planning, response, and recovery – specializing in state and local coordination, training and exercise, mass care, evacuation prioritization, and crisis response.

Prior to joining Hagerty, Lee served as the Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management for Lee County, FL where he oversaw and supported the county’s response to and recovery from Hurricane Irma in 2017. This event included the largest evacuation in the area’s history as well as the largest single-county sheltering operation within the State of Florida. Following Hurricane Irma, he coordinated a multi-jurisdictional effort, applying for and securing approximately $40 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding.

While at Lee County, he also led his team through varying hazards including a significant cyber incident; numerous severe flooding and tropical weather events; and the COVID-19 response and recovery. Additionally, Lee has experience with several hurricane response deployments under mutual aid to neighboring jurisdictions.
