Imagineer Merging 19th Century Technology With STEM For Inspiring The Next Generation Of Innovation at Hagley Museum & Library

Ron Therrien is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in technology, education, and research. Currently serving as an Adjunct Faculty member at George Mason University - College of Engineering and Computing since August 2024, Therrien has also been an Imagineer at Hagley Museum and Library since September 2022, where the focus is on integrating 19th-century technology with STEM education to inspire innovation. As the Principal at EcoSmart Research since March 2009, Therrien has contributed to seabird research related to offshore wind power, developing innovative testing methods. In addition, Therrien has held the position of President at InfoTech Plus, leading consulting efforts for prominent companies and government entities. Previous roles include Director of Programs and Community Engagement Coordinator for FIRST Chesapeake/VirginiaFIRST, Independent Contractor at Mote Marine Laboratory, and various technical and management roles at GE. Therrien holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management, Information Systems from Purdue University and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
