Efren Vila Alfonso

Efren Vila Alfonso has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and engineering. Efren started their career in 2013 as a Professor and Researcher at Universidad Agraria de La Habana (UNAH), where they taught subjects such as Artificial Intelligence and Computer Networks, and also designed and developed visualization tools for Petri Nets, BPMN models, and graphs.

In 2016, Efren worked as a Full-stack Developer at Crosmyn Coders, where they modified, added, and refactored components for the website of Olympus Medical Plan. Efren also discussed requirements, proposed solutions, and maintained databases to ensure a pleasant user experience.

In the same year, they joined Kewelta as a Backend Developer and later became a Senior Lead Developer. At Kewelta, they designed and modeled databases, developed server code and services, and used Elasticsearch as a search engine. Efren also worked on hosting services using platforms like Heroku, Digital Ocean, Cloudflare, and AWS services like Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront to enhance the storage and CDN.

Efren's next role was at Viera Academy in 2017, where they worked as a Full-stack Developer. Efren created the store and payment platform mechanisms using Stripe and established the custom arrangement of user dashboard components.

In 2018, Efren joined Nestlé as a Desktop App Developer, where they developed a desktop application for content management in "Recetario Maggi Soluciona." Efren also maintained databases and local servers for application distribution and statistics.

In 2017, Efren also worked at Katapulk Marketplace LLC as a Backend Developer, Full-stack Developer, and eventually became a Senior Lead Developer. Efren organized, planned, and designed projects to enhance the e-commerce platform Spree, increased code readability, and created an object model for improved extensibility.

Efren worked as an Independent IT Contractor in 2019, developing projects for platforms like Freelancer and Upwork. Efren utilized technologies such as Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Python, Flask, and SQLite.

In 2020, they worked as a Lead Engineer at Boxitas, developing a serverless application using AWS and creating a gateway for video-calls using Vonage/OpenTok. Currently, they are employed as a Software Engineer at haku since September 2020.

Efren Vila Alfonso completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Havana. Efren attended this university from 2008 to 2013. In 2014, they also pursued a post-graduate course in Ontologies from the same institution. Additionally, in February 2020, Efren obtained a certification in Computer Science from Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. International Education Consultants.
