James J. Mousseau

Director - Chemistry at Halda Therapeutics

James J. Mousseau has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. James J. is currently serving as an Associate Director - Chemistry at Halda Therapeutics since May 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal Scientist at Halda Therapeutics from April 2021 to May 2022.

Before joining Halda Therapeutics, James worked at Pfizer for a significant period. James J. started as a Senior Scientist in the Medicinal Chemistry group of the Biotherapeutics division in June 2013 and was promoted to Principal Scientist in April 2017. Their role at Pfizer involved working in a diverse team environment, identifying targets for anti-inflammatory compounds, and contributing to the synthetic development of targeted compounds.

James also has experience as a Freelance Science Writer, where they worked as an Assistant to the Editor of the Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis from January 2010 to June 2017.

In terms of their academic background, James was a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2011 to 2013. James J. also served as a Graduate Research Associate at Université de Montréal from 2007 to 2011, where they worked on their dissertation titled "Direct Functionalization of Heterocyclic and Non-Heterocyclic Arenes" under the guidance of Prof. André B. Charette. Additionally, they were a Teaching Assistant at Université de Montréal in 2010.

James started their career as a Laboratory Technician at the Naval Engineering Test Establishment from 2001 to 2004. In this role, they were responsible for the day-to-day operations, training, maintenance, and budget of the chemistry lab. James J. also developed novel chemical analyzing techniques and tests.

James J. Mousseau pursued their education in the field of organic chemistry. James J. completed their Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biochemistry (Honors) and Organic Chemistry from Concordia University between 2000 and 2006. James J. then went on to obtain their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Université de Montréal from 2007 to 2011. During the same period, they also achieved the degree of Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D. from the same institution. Following their doctoral studies, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow in Organic Chemistry from 2011 to 2012.
