Ronan Bellabarba

Science Lead at Haldor Topsøe

Ronan Bellabarba has extensive work experience in the field of catalysis, spanning over two decades. Ronan started their career as a post-doctoral researcher at Queen's University Belfast and later at IST. In 2002, they joined Sasol Technology UK Ltd as a Principal Scientist, where they conducted research on homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. Ronan also focused on the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and their catalytic performance. In 2014, Ronan joined Johnson Matthey as a Technology Manager, primarily working on R&D projects and leading a team of scientists. Ronan contributed to a wide range of projects, involving homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, materials science, and troubleshooting for customers. Additionally, they were responsible for the development and manufacture of precious metal heterogeneous catalysts for industrial processes. Currently, Ronan holds the position of Science Lead at Topsoe starting from June 2023.

Ronan Bellabarba holds a DPhil in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of Oxford, which they obtained from 1996 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed a degree in Chemistry with advanced materials at the University of Hull from 1993 to 1996. Ronan also obtained a Diploma di Maturità scientifica from Liceo Scientifico from 1988 to 1993. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained additional certifications in Half Double Foundation from APMG International and Dan Ariely on Making Decisions from LinkedIn, both in the year 2023.
