Barbara Schoichet

Barbara Schoichet is a seasoned writer and editor with a diverse background in creative writing, marketing, and education. Currently, Barbara serves as a writer/editor at Blue Pencil Services, a memoir and creative nonfiction teacher at Gotham Writers Workshop since August 2021, and a freelance writer for Crown Media Family Networks since January 2017, focusing on press kits for the Hallmark Channel. Previous experience includes serving as a marketing and publicity writer at Paramount Pictures from 2001 to 2006 and as a senior editor at RGA Publishing Group from 1992 to 1997, where manuscript acquisitions, particularly in children's literature, were a key responsibility. Barbara holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University (2009-2014), an MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College (1980-1982), and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Stephens College.
