Tom Gater

Tom Gater has a diverse work experience. Tom is currently the Head of Internal Communications at Halma plc since 2021. Previously, they worked at John Lewis Partnership from 2016 to 2021, where they held various roles such as People Engagement & Communications Lead, Senior Manager of Group Partner Communications & Engagement, and Communications Business Partner. Before that, they were the Head of Communications at Business in the Community, where they led the Community Investment and Business Connectors team. Tom also worked at Futerra Sustainability Communications as a Senior Account Manager and Consultant in Strategy. Tom started their career as a Masters student at the University of the Western Cape in 2008.

Tom Gater has a diverse educational background. Tom earned a Bachelor's degree in Geography with Honors from Newcastle University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, they attended Abingdon School from 1997 to 2004, although their degree and field of study during this time are unknown. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Geography, specializing in Geography, Development, Politics, Health, and Africa, at the University of the Western Cape from 2008 to 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Tom Gater has obtained certifications in coaching and mentoring. In 2015, they obtained the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring from the Institute of Leadership & Management. Tom is also a certified member of the Institute of Internal Communication, although the exact date of certification is unknown.
