Majd Hawasly

Majd Hawasly has a strong background in research and development. They are currently working as a Scientist at the Qatar Computing Research Institute, starting in January 2023. Prior to this role, they worked at Five AI as a Lead Research Scientist from April 2022 to January 2023, a Senior Research Scientist from September 2020 to April 2022, and a Research Scientist from June 2017 to September 2020. They also served as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds from October 2016 to May 2017. Before that, they worked as a Back-end Developer at WR Smartphone from December 2012 to September 2016. Majd Hawasly also has experience as a Research Visitor at The University of Edinburgh from November 2014 to March 2016 and as a Research Student from October 2009 to March 2014.

Majd Hawasly completed their education in a chronological manner. They first attended Damascus University from 2001 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence at Heriot-Watt University, studying from 2008 to 2009. Finally, they went on to The University of Edinburgh, where they obtained a PhD in Informatics, having studied there from 2009 to 2014.
