Maynard Eaton

Maynard Eaton is an accomplished media communications professional and educator with extensive experience in journalism and strategic communications. Serving as the Endowed Professor of Journalism at Hampton University since August 2022, Eaton is also the National Communications Director and Editor of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's (SCLC) National Magazine since February 2011, where responsibilities include managing media relations and strategic communications. An esteemed professor since January 1989 at Clark Atlanta University, Eaton teaches print and broadcast journalism and guides students on media projects. Additionally, Eaton hosts and serves as Chief Editor for The Maynard Report and previously contributed as Co-Founder and Moderator for Newsmakers Live. With a career encompassing various roles in television and radio, including positions with networks such as BET and NBC, Eaton has garnered multiple accolades, including five Emmy awards for writing and investigative reporting. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University and a BA in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University.
