Ryan Merrill PhD

Ryan Merrill, PhD, has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Ryan is currently the Executive Secretary and Founder of Global Mangrove Trust since 2018. In 2020, they co-founded Handprint and holds the position of Chief Impact Officer, where they focus on leveraging technology to empower companies to make a positive impact on the planet. Prior to this, Ryan worked as a Research Fellow in Sustainability, Strategy, and Innovation at Singapore Management University from 2017 to 2019. Ryan also pursued their PhD at the University of Southern California from 2012 to 2017. Additionally, Ryan has held positions such as Director at One World Consulting, Operations Director at Green Power Associates Co. Ltd., Vice President Institutional Products at Country Group Securities, Consultant at ETI Tech Berhad, Research Analyst at Vital Wave Consulting, and Graduate Student Researcher at the Center for US Mexican Studies. Throughout their career, Ryan has focused on areas such as environmental sales and marketing, agribusiness and water purification, cryptoeconomic solutions, global climate governance, and capital-based complementarity.

Ryan Merrill PhD completed their education in a sequential manner, starting with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Latin American Studies from the University of Virginia, which took place from 2000 to 2003. Following this, from 2006 to 2008, they pursued a Master's degree in Pacific & International Affairs at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS), specializing in Finance and Business Strategy. Finally, from 2012 to 2017, Ryan Merrill PhD attended the University of Southern California, where they obtained their Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Policy.
