Jenny Poma

COO, Lighthouse of Michigan at HandUp

Jenny Poma is currently the COO of Lighthouse of Michigan at HandUp. Jenny has over 9 years of experience in the non-profit sector, with a focus on programming, community organizing, and fiscal management. Jenny started their career as an intern at Family Services, Inc., where they provided direct service to families in need. Jenny then became the Membership Coordinator at Girl Scouts of America, where they managed memberships and coordinated events. In 2008, Jenny started working at Warren Conner Development Coalition as a Project Manager and Community Organizer. In this role, Jenny oversaw various projects and grants, managed a farmers market, and organized a Lights and Locks crime prevention project. Jenny then became the Project Manager at HOPE Hospitality & Warming Center, where they oversaw the daily operations of the warming center, developed new programming around housing and access to services, and supervised staff and volunteers. In July 2010, Jenny started working at South Oakland Shelter as the Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Jenny was responsible for the overall management and operation of the shelter. Jenny also worked closely with the Board of Directors to develop strategic plans and ensure financial stability. Jenny has been with Lighthouse of Michigan at HandUp since July 2019.

Jenny Poma went to Wayne State University for their Masters in Social Work and Oakland University for their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Jenny also has a certification from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations.
