Tomás Canas da Costa

Tomás Canas da Costa serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Malaysian Branch at Hannover Re since January 2021, where responsibilities include leading operational teams and ensuring regulatory compliance. Previously, Tomás held the position of Head Regulatory Affairs and Risk Reporting at Hannover Re, advising management on risk topics and managing relationships with regulators. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Regulatory Risk Officer and Business Development Manager at Swiss Re, where Tomás developed external engagement strategies and managed high-level regulatory interactions. Early career positions included analyst and intern roles at Deutsche Bahn, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, the International Trade Centre, the European Commission, and Banco Espirito Santo. Tomás holds a BSc in Government and Economics from The London School of Economics and a Master in Public Policy from the Hertie School.
