Carey Adams

Provost & VP for Academic Affairs at Hanover College

Carey Adams is the current Provost & VP for Academic Affairs at Hanover College. Carey has also been a Professor Of Communication at Fontbonne University from June 2015 to June 2020, and Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at Armstrong Atlantic State University from June 2012 to June 2014.

Adams has been responsible for overseeing the Academic Affairs division with a budget of $37.3 million and 260 full-time faculty in four colleges with total enrollment of approximately 7,100 students in degree programs ranging from associate to professional doctorate levels. In addition to academic programs, they have also been responsible for enrollment services, institutional research, assessment, sponsored programs, international studies, faculty development, first year experience, and advisement.

Adams has also been responsible for Armstrong’s Complete College Georgia plan, with goals to significantly increase student retention and graduation rates. Carey has revised the academic program review process and established a new university-wide assessment plan. Carey has also served on the university’s comprehensive campaign advisory council.

Carey Adams has a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas, an MA in Communication Studies from Baylor University, and a BA in Communication and Religion from William Jewell College. Carey also has certification from LinkedIn in Prioritizing Your Tasks.

They work with Lynn Hall - VP for Athletics, Shelley Preocanin - Chief of Staff & Executive Assistant, and Melba Rodriguez - VP for Advancement. Carey Adams reports to Lake Lambert, III, President.
