Markus Roupé

Director of Biology at Hansa Biopharma

Markus Roupé has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and biomedicine. Markus has served as the Director of Biology at Hansa Biopharma AB since 2019, leading a team focused on innovation and discovery. Prior to this, from 2017 to 2019, they worked as a Senior Scientist at the same company, involved in the development of imlifidase enzyme.

Before joining Hansa Biopharma AB, Markus was the Manager of Research and Development at NorInvent AB from 2016 to 2017. Markus has also held positions at Lund University, where they worked as an Assistant Researcher from 2014 to 2016 and as a Wenner-Gren Postdoc Fellow from 2013 to 2014, researching the interaction between Streptococci and the CD44 receptor.

Markus has also served as a Wenner-Gren Postdoctoral fellow at UC San Diego from 2010 to 2013, investigating wound healing and streptococcal virulence factors. Markus completed their Ph.D. thesis at Lund University from 2005 to 2009, studying epidermal reactions to injury and innate immune responses. Additionally, they participated in the National Research School in Genomics and Bioinformatics from 2006 to 2008.

Markus's academic journey began with a Master's thesis in Medical Science at the Devision of Matrixbiology, Lund University in 2004. Prior to that, they undertook a Biomedical and Biomolecular Graduate Research School program at the Department of Clinical Sciences and Department of Industrial Electrical Engineering from 2003 to 2004. Overall, their work experience spans various research roles and responsibilities.

From 2000 to 2004, Markus Roupé attended Lund University, where they pursued a Masters degree in Biomedicine.
