Shayna van Hoften

Shayna (Mittler) van Hoften is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in government and public agency law, currently serving as Vice Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee at the American Public Transportation Association since April 2025 and as a partner and leader of the Public Transit & Transportation Practice Group at Hanson Bridgett since October 2004. Shayna also holds the position of General Counsel and Board Member at the East Bay Leadership Council and is the Board President of BOYS TEAM CHARITY WALNUT CREEK LEAGUE. In addition, an interim General Counsel role at AC Transit was held from January to September 2024. Shayna previously served on the Board of Directors and as President for the Junior State of America (JSA) from January 2016 to August 2024. Educational background includes a JD from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and a Master of Public Policy from the same institution, complemented by a BA in Politics/Public Policy from Pomona College.
