Alexander Schwed, MD, FACS, currently serves as the Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Residency and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center since July 2022. Previously, Alexander held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn from September 2020 to May 2022 and completed a fellowship in Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at both the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Health from August 2018 to September 2020. Alexander's earlier roles include Administrative Chief Resident and Surgical Resident Physician at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where training was completed from June 2012 to July 2018. Additionally, Alexander served as a Clinical Research Fellow at Harbor-UCLA and worked as a Research Assistant at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia focusing on pediatric thrombosis research. Alexander earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature from Yale University, along with a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medicine from Bryn Mawr College.
