Zara Smith

Zara Smith, PhD, is a research scientist at Harness Therapeutics since September 2022. Previously, Zara held the position of EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow at The University of Manchester, focusing on the development of a nano-encapsulated protein for post-traumatic osteoarthritis from April 2021 to May 2022. Zara also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Manchester, where responsibilities included assisting in laboratory classes and supervising undergraduate dissertation projects from September 2017 to January 2020. Additionally, Zara participated as a Widening Participation Fellow, promoting higher education among children and young adults from challenging backgrounds. Earlier experience includes working as an Analytical Chemist at Tata Steel, where Zara operated analytical equipment for inorganic compound detection and assisted in UKAS accreditation documentation. Educational credentials include a PhD in Biomedical Materials from The University of Manchester, an MSc in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine from UCL, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Hull.
