Nic Acton

Nic Acton has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Nic most recently worked at Harness as a Senior Federal Sales Engineer starting in October 2022. Prior to that, they were a Federal Solutions Architect at Snorkel AI from August 2021 to October 2022.

Before joining Snorkel AI, Nic worked at Accenture Federal Services as an Applied Intelligence Manager from April 2020 to August 2021.

From June 2016 to April 2020, they were a Project Engineer at In-Q-Tel, where they consulted on cloud transition and deployment strategies for startup companies. Nic also performed systems engineering validation and verification of software and hardware deliverables and provided deployment support and demonstrations for intelligence community (IC) customers.

Nic Acton started their career as a Systems Engineer at Alion Science and Technology from January 2015 to May 2016. Prior to that, they worked as an Engineering Associate at Lockheed Martin from May 2014 to November 2014.

Before entering the engineering field, Nic gained research experience as a Research Assistant at JMU Anechoic Chamber, where they conducted research on the acoustic applications of the Coanda effect.

Nic Acton also served as a Physics Learning Assistant at James Madison University and gained civil engineering project management experience as an Intern at Insight Engineering, Inc. Nic also worked as an Intern at SAIC, where they provided data and tracking support and assisted in projects for the Department of Energy.

Nic Acton completed a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from the Virginia Tech College of Engineering from 2017 to 2020. During the same period, they also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Urban Computing from Virginia Tech. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering from James Madison University, attending from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Nic Acton has obtained several certifications. These include the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in June 2021, Scalable Machine Learning with Apache Spark™ from Databricks in November 2020, an Agile with Atlassian Jira certification from Coursera in October 2020, a Mentoring Others certification from LinkedIn in October 2020, a Kubernetes Essentials certification from Linux Academy in February 2019, a Shaping up with Angular.js certification from Code School in January 2017, a Docker Administration and Operations certification from Docker in November 2016, an Agile Project Management certification from lynda.com in July 2015, a Foundations of Programming: Fundamentals certification from lynda.com in May 2015, an An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python (Part 1) certification from Coursera Verified Certificates in April 2015, and an Engineer In Training certification from NCEES in December 2013.

Furthermore, Nic Acton has acquired several other certifications.
