Emma Schaefer-Whittall is an experienced educator currently serving as the Lead Teacher for Middle School ELA at Harriet Tubman Charter School through Crescent City Schools since July 2022. Previously, Emma worked as a Special Education Teacher, managing a significant IEP caseload and implementing the Wit & Wisdom Tier I curriculum. Emma's experience includes participation in Teach For America as a Corps Member, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with internships in nonprofit settings that involved volunteer program development. Emma holds a Bachelor's degree in Feminist Studies and Educational Studies from UC Santa Barbara and possesses a high school diploma from Scotts Valley High School. Further foundational skills were developed as a head coach at Santa Cruz Soccer Camp and as a food service worker earlier in Emma's career.
