Chad Shaw

Chad Shaw, CFPS, FEMT, is an experienced fire service professional currently serving as Assistant Chief at Harris County Fire Marshal's Office since March 2023. Prior to this role, Chad held various positions at Harris County Fire Marshal from July 2004 to May 2023, including Deputy Chief, Captain, Lieutenant Investigator, and Investigator, responsible for managing the Prevention Division, conducting fire scene investigations, and overseeing special operations inspections. Chad also served as Assistant Chief at Northwest Fire Department from 2003 to 2005. Throughout the career, responsibilities have included policy review, public outreach, team leadership, and managing property and evidence for the department.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is a fire protection/law enforcement agency that provides essential public safety services, primarily in unincorporated areas of Harris County. HCFMO relies on a “customer first” operating philosophy to achieve agency goals, balance community risks from fires or other emergencies, and encourage strong, sustainable economic development. The Fire Marshal is appointed by Commissioners Court to a term not to exceed two years. HCFMO employees are fire protection personnel certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (“TCFP”) and, where required by law, employees are peace officers licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (“TCOLE”).
