Fernando Tonon

Fernando joined HLC in April 2022 with a background in Europe-Asia relations and environmental policy. He was previously a Blue Book Trainee at the Secretariat-General’s European Green Deal unit of the European Commission, specializing in legislative initiatives and reforms aimed at meeting the EU climate goals for 2030 and the net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050. Having worked in the European Chamber of Commerce in China and the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Portugal, Fernando has extensive experience in public-private relations, industry-focused research, and communications. He holds a Bachelor’s in Asian Studies from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon and a Master’s in International Relations from Shanghai International Studies University. He speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese, with limited proficiency in French and Korean.
