Marie-Renee Arend has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Marie-Renee started their career as an Intake Coordinator at Bellevue Medical Imaging in 2007 and then worked as a Patient Services Representative II at The Polyclinic from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, they worked as a Freelance Writer at CrowdSource.

Marie-Renee transitioned into the field of speech science and computational linguistics, joining VoiceBox Technologies. Marie-Renee initially worked as a Computational Linguist Intern before becoming a Junior Computational Linguist and later a Speech Scientist. In their most recent role at VoiceBox, they served as a Speech Scientist Lead, managing their team's customer engineering commitments while also conducting research on DNN acoustic modeling with the Kaldi toolkit.

From 2017 to 2021, Marie-Renee worked at Amazon, where they held several roles. Marie-Renee started as a Technical Program Manager, driving technology and accuracy improvements for Alexa ASR modeling. Marie-Renee then transitioned to a Senior Technical Program Manager role, responsible for managing the science and engineering roadmaps for A/B experimentation tools and services across Amazon. Finally, they worked as a Data Scientist, collaborating with various Alexa organizations to develop efficiency metrics and user-facing dashboards for distributed computing.

In 2021, Marie-Renee took a sabbatical before joining Meta as a Data Scientist. In this role, they focused on measuring violating behaviors in the marketplace and worked with cross-functional stakeholders to improve decisioning systems and metrics.

Most recently, Marie-Renee joined Haus as a Data Scientist in 2022.

Marie-Renee Arend completed their education in a sequential manner. Marie-Renee attended the University of Washington from 2007 to 2010, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish Language and Literature. Following this, they pursued further studies at the same university from 2012 to 2014 and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computational Linguistics.

Additionally, Marie-Renee Arend has acquired two certifications. In November 2008, they obtained the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE), level B2 from Instituto Cervantes. More recently, in November 2022, they earned a certification in Data Analysis with Python from IBM.
