Maximilian Riege

Maximilian Riege, LL.M. (NYU) has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different companies. Maximilian is currently serving as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at HAWK:AI since November 2023. Prior to this, they were the Co-CEO of Berlin Finance Initiative starting from February 2023. Earlier, they worked at Penta as the Managing Director / Geschäftsführer and later as the Chief Operating Officer from June 2021 to September 2022. Before Penta, Maximilian held positions at Verimi, where they served as the Chief Representative & General Counsel from June 2019 to May 2021 and as the Head of Legal & Compliance from January 2018 to June 2019. Maximilian was also a Wagner Fellow at the NYU Pollack Center for Law & Business at New York University School of Law from 2016 to 2017. Prior to their time at Verimi, Maximilian worked at Hambach & Hambach Rechtsanwälte PartG mbB, where they held the roles of Salary Partner and Senior Associate. Maximilian also gained experience at Deutsche Telekom AG in the International Regulatory Affairs, Competition Law and Media Department, as well as at Redeker Sellner Dahs as a Research Associate and Legal Clerk. Maximilian started their career at the Higher Regional Court Koblenz, where they completed their Legal Clerkship.

Maximilian Riege, LL.M. (NYU), earned their Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Competition, Innovation and Information Law from New York University School of Law in 2016. Prior to that, they completed their First State Exam in Law at The University of Bonn from 2002 to 2005. Additionally, they pursued studies in law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2001 and Universität Passau in 2000-2001.
