Michael Johansson

Michael (Mike) Johansson, MA, currently serves as the Director of Communications and Engagement at Hawke's Bay Regional Council since December 2022. Previously, Mike was a Jury member for the Social Media Marketing Institute from July 2020 to June 2023, where Mike judged and presented awards at the Social Media Marketing Awards. As an instructor at edX from March 2017 to April 2023, Mike developed courses in critical thinking and communication. Additional roles include Senior Communications Partner at Auckland Transport, Principal Lecturer and Adjunct Instructor at Rochester Institute of Technology, and Social Media Strategist at Fixitology. With over 20 years in journalism, Mike held various editorial positions at the Democrat and Chronicle and earlier roles at The Daily Telegraph and The Press. Michael holds a Master's degree in Newspaper Journalism from Syracuse University and a Master Certificate in Internet Marketing from the University of San Francisco.
