Richard K. Holmquist

Director, Americas Sales at HawkEye 360

Richard K. Holmquist has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Richard K. started their career in 1992 as an Alaska Domestic Groundfish Observer at Saltwater Inc., where they operated independently aboard commercial factory trawlers, collecting data on catch information, marine mammal sightings, and interactions. In 1993, they worked as a Laboratory Specialist at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, performing laboratory and field work for the Crustaceology Department, including conducting field surveys for the Virginia blue crab dredge survey.

From 1999 to 2001, Holmquist held roles as an Environmental Specialist at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and as a Senior Ocean Analyst at Orbimage. In these positions, they focused on environmental and oceanographic analysis.

In 2001, Holmquist joined DigitalGlobe as Director of Sales for the Marine Services group. Richard K. managed a global network of independent distributors and directed international and domestic sales for products including satellite imagery subscription services, integrated GIS and remote sensing platforms, government vessel monitoring systems, and commercial tracking hardware and satellite communications for the marine industry. Richard K. held this role until 2017.

Holmquist then became the Business Development Lead at NAL Research Corporation in 2019, before transitioning to their role as Director of Americas Sales at HawkEye 360 later that year. At HawkEye 360, they were responsible for sales of the company's suite of products within the Americas and also led sales efforts for illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing detection internationally.

In addition to their experience in the private sector, Holmquist served in the Army National Guard from 1989 to 2002, holding various leadership and operations positions, including command of Virginia's 129th Field Artillery Detachment during their deployment to Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Most recently, in 2018, Holmquist worked as a Senior Marine Expert at HeraSpace.
