Sarani Illangasinghe has a diverse range of work experience, starting with an internship at Brandix in 2013. Sarani then worked as a Community Development Volunteer at the International Movement for Community Development (IMCD) from 2013 to 2019. Sarani Illangasinghe completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Special degree in Computation and Management from the University of Peradeniya, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. In 2012, they also obtained a CCHRM (Chartered Institute of Personnel Management) certification in Human Resource Management.

In 2021, Sarani enrolled in the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and earned an Executive Certificate in Human Resources Analytics. Additionally, they attended Pushpadana Girls' College in Kandy from 2000 to 2008, focusing on subjects like Economics, Geography, Drama, and Theater.
