Nik Goodell, P.E. has a diverse range of work experience. Nik started their career as a Marine Diesel Technician at Golden State Diesel Marine in 2002 and later worked at Monterey Bay Marine in the same role. In these positions, Nik gained experience in servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing marine power systems and auxiliary systems.

Nik then transitioned to the field of energy efficiency and worked as a Research Intern at Cal Poly State University in 2008. Here, they conducted research in an internship capacity.

Nik'swork involved troubleshooting and implementing wireless sensor networks and analyzing energy use data. Nik was invited to present their research at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.

From 2011 to 2013, Nik worked as a Facility Plant Engineer at Enovity Inc. In this role, they analyzed energy efficiency measures for commercial buildings and provided technical support to the O&M team.

In 2014, Nik became a Senior Project Engineer at Axxis Building Systems. Here, they were responsible for designing and implementing building HVAC Control systems. Nik programmed control strategies and integrated systems using Tridium supervisors.

Since 2015, Nik has been working as an Application Engineer at Haynes Mechanical Systems. Nik leads engineering projects and is considered an advanced resource for control systems. Nik focuses on designing cost-effective building control systems, including Fire and Security systems.

Nik Goodell, P.E. received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Mathematics from Cabrillo College between 2005 and 2008. Before attending college, they earned an Associate's degree in Diesel Mechanics Technology/Technician from Universal Technical Institute, Inc. from 2000 to 2001. In terms of additional certifications, Nik obtained the Niagara AX certification from Tridium in February 2014. Nik further obtained their Colorado P.E. certification from the Colorado Division of Regulatory Agencies in June 2016, and their California P.E. certification from the CA Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists in May 2015.
