David Seftel, MD, MBA has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and organizations. David is currently the CEO, CFO, and CMO at Enable Biosciences, a clinical reference laboratory. In this role, they oversee the provision of COVID antibody dried blood spot testing and Type 1 diabetes prognostic testing to multiple institutions and organizations. David also co-founded Enable Biosciences with two PhD candidates and their professor.

Additionally, Dr. Seftel serves as the President of Strategic Initiatives at the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California. In this position, they lead initiatives to support Harvard Business School alumni and their companies, including hosting a COVID-19 Webinar series and spearheading the creation of a physical entrepreneurial center in the Bay Area.

Dr. Seftel has held research roles at The National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. David has also been a Principal Investigator at Stanford University School of Medicine, focusing on Type 1 diabetes research and collaboration with Enable Biosciences.

Furthermore, Dr. Seftel has served as a Principal Investigator and Project Director for the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. David has also held medical director and track physician roles at Golden Gate Fields and Bay Meadows Racecourse.

Before their current roles, Dr. Seftel held the position of Executive Vice President and Director of Research and Development at the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., where they evaluated and recommended funding for research projects related to macular degeneration.

Overall, Dr. Seftel's work experience showcases their expertise in clinical laboratory testing, research, and leadership in various healthcare and academic institutions.

David Seftel, MD, MBA pursued their education at various prestigious institutions. David obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 1979 to 1985. David also completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Witwatersrand University from 1980 to 1981. Following this, they completed their Transitional Internship in General Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital in Brookline, MA, from 1989 to 1990. Subsequently, they pursued an Internship in Internal Medicine at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University, Hershey, PA, from 1992 to 1993. David continued their training with a Residency in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, Loyola Medical School in Maywood, IL, from 1993 to 1995.

To further augment their professional skills, David Seftel completed a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program at Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston, MA, from 1990 to 1992, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General. David also engaged in an Executive Education Program, Entrepreneurial Management (ETK), at Harvard Business School in Boston, MA, in 2007.

Within their educational journey, David Seftel acquired additional certification from the Medical Board of California in 1996.
