The "Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre" (HCPA) is a semi-independent federal agency, with private administration and mandated to be revenue-neutral. Created by the Federal Government in 1970 as a public company working under private law, the HCPA is member of the Brazilian University Hospitals Network and is academically linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). HCPA aims to achieve international recognition for the quality of care provided according to the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation program. The organizational hierarchy is represented by the President, followed by 5 divisions, each one with its own Executive Officer. - Physician - Administration - Nurse Group - Research Group - Information Technology Group. Each division has multiple Service Managers and each service is of a different size and structure, with multiple coordinators and managers.
