Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland
Catherine Irwin MBE serves as the Board Chair and Board Member for the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland since May 2021, while also operating as an Experienced Management Consultant at Irwin Consulting Services from February 2021. With a robust background in Reliability & Maintenance, Health & Safety, and Operational Excellence, Catherine has consulted for diverse industries, including petrochemical, food, waste, and manufacturing. Between May 2018 and April 2024, Catherine held the position of Chair of the Board of Trustees for Girlguiding, providing strategic and governance leadership. Additionally, Catherine served as High Sheriff of County Fermanagh in 2021 and had an extensive career at DuPont from September 1990 to August 2020, where roles included Global Reliability, Maintenance & Mechanical Integrity Leader and EMEA Engineering Manager. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Queen's University Belfast, alongside postgraduate certificates from The Open University and Ulster University in Systems Thinking in Practice and Business Administration, respectively.
