Darren Knowles

Darren Knowles has extensive experience in nuclear regulation and safety, currently serving as a Site Inspector at the Office for Nuclear Regulation since November 2011. Prior roles include Transition Manager and Assurance Manager at Sellafield Ltd from September 2007 to October 2011, as well as various positions at UKAEA, Culham, from March 2000 to October 2007, such as ATO Holder for the Leased Operations Facility, Independent Inspector, and Peer Reviewer. Previously, Darren worked at AWE from October 1993 to March 2000 as a Senior Safety Engineer, Internal Regulator, and Safety Engineer, beginning a career as a Graduate Trainee Health Physicist. Academic qualifications include an MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection from the University of Surrey, an MSc (ENG) in Advanced Engineering Materials, and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematical Physics from the University of Liverpool.
