Ken Rivers

Ken Rivers is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in health and safety, chemical engineering, and refinery management. Currently serving as a Non Executive Director at the Health and Safety Executive since August 2023, Rivers also contributes to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities as a member of the Industry Safety Steering Group. Prior roles include Chair of the Control of Major Accident Hazards Strategic Forum at the Health and Safety Executive and President of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. With previous leadership positions in major industry task forces and as Chief Executive Officer of Refining NZ, Rivers brings a wealth of knowledge in risk management and industry regulation. A graduate of the University of Cambridge with a Master of Arts in Chemical Engineering, Rivers has held significant roles at Shell International and Shell UK, culminating in a deep understanding of refinery operations and product safety.
