Erica Benz is a seasoned Substance Use Counselor at Health Care Resource Centers since May 2020, following experience as an Addiction Institute Mental Health Counseling Intern at Mount Sinai West from May 2019 to May 2020. During the internship, Erica facilitated process and large groups, provided individual therapy, conducted intake evaluations, and ensured compliance with regulatory standards. Prior to this role, Erica dedicated a year as a Missionary with Christ in the City, serving the chronically homeless in Denver. Erica's advocacy experience includes a Policy/Advocacy Internship at ECE PolicyWorks, focusing on educational standards in New York State. Academically, Erica holds an Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in Psychology and Anthropology from Columbia University.

Health Care Resource Centers ("HCRC"), formerly known as Community Substance Abuse Centers, is a very well-established company which provides integrated medical and counseling approaches grounded in an individualized recovery-oriented philosophy that treats addiction as a bio-psychosocial disease. These services include pharmacological treatment with methadone and other medications in combination with individual and group counseling sessions. Treatment is driven by individualized objective goals. HIV/AIDS screening, education, and counseling services are provided for all patients. Our philosophy of care recognizes addiction as a primary disease, emphasizes the need for compassion, and encourages a drug-free lifestyle.
